Community Services – Rocky Grove

Community Services is a nonprofit organization that provides a wide range of supportive programs and resources to strengthen individuals, families, and communities. This location offers a food pantry, car seat loaner program, and parents as teachers programs. They have a supermarket-style food pantry at this location, where individuals are able to shop for a two-day supply of groceries, adjusted to household size. Eligible residents may use the emergency food pantry once a month.

Car Seat Loaner Program: loans all types of seats, from rear-facing to backless boosters, to Venango County residents. Families or individuals are able to call to set an appointment (one per family) to receive an appropriate seat for their child based on weight, height, age, and developmental level. A one-time $20 deposit is required at the time of the seat installation. Once the child outgrows the seat, the next appropriate seat is provided. The car seat is then returned when the child outgrows all seats. If the final seat is returned in good working condition, the family is refunded half of the original deposit ($10). If the car seat is in an accident, the family must report it to Community Services and return it: they will be issued a new seat at no cost.

Parents as Teachers (PAT): a home-based program that provides parents with child development knowledge and parenting support. Trained and certified parent educators offer support to families from pregnancy to the time the children enter kindergarten. PAT serves children with and without disabilities. Your home visitor will work closely with you to meet the individualized needs of every child and family. PAT program services include home visits to families; health, hearing, vision, and developmental screenings of children; parent group meetings; Family Interaction Time; and a resource network that links families with needed community resources.

Parents as Teachers: Enhanced Program works with families in Venango County who have been affected by substance abuse. Families that have identified substance abuse / recovery issues who are pregnant or have children through age three living in Venango County are eligible for services. The PAT model is utilized with additional training and support.
