
Lancaster-Lebanon Intermediate Unit 13: Lancaster
This organization offers community education classes to Lancaster and Lebanon county adults at no cost. Classes are offered morning, evening, and online. Anyone under 18 years old must provide official documentation of withdrawal from school in order to enroll. They offer: English classes, including English as a Second Language; high school equivalency test preparation classes; basic computer skills; tutoring; and workforce preparation classes, including administrative support professional, certified nursing assistant, direct care provider, pre-licensed practical nurse, and teaching assistant training. They also offer a state-funded family literacy program designed to provide education services to parents and children between birth-3rd grade. With this, they offer: English classes, a strong community for learning with other parents, partnerships with schools and community agencies, individual support for overcoming challenges, help understanding your child’s learning needs, and more. The Refugee Center provides career guidance to English learners who are in pursuit of employment in Lancaster county. English learners work with cultural navigators to identify the steps needed to reclaim their careers in the U.S. Tuition support is available for eligible participants. Guidance includes assisting ELs in gaining translation or evaluation of an international credential, certification in a new career, college credits, and more.
