Philadelphia Lawyers for Social Equity

This organization provides free legal advice and representation to low-income Philadelphia residents whose criminal records are holding them back from achieving their social and career potentials. They can assist with expungements, pardons, and fair employment. Their fair employment opportunities project provides advice and representation to people who have been denied jobs or promotions or otherwise been treated unfairly at work because of their criminal records. In order for individuals to be assisted by this organization for expungements or pardons, they must meet the following requirements: all criminal cases are closed and complete (including any probation or parole sentences), your case must be a state level (not federal) case in Pennsylvania (if you have federal convictions or convictions in other states, they cannot help), must be a resident of Philadelphia (or have at least one Philadelphia case on your court summary), must be up to 187.5% of the Federal Poverty Level. For pardons, you also must’ve completed your most recent sentence 10 years ago.
