Snyder County Housing Authority

This agency provides affordable housing opportunities to individuals within Snyder County.

Public Housing Program: this agency operates multiple public housing developments across the county. Public housing provides safe rental housing for eligible low-income families, as well as the elderly and individuals with disabilities. Public housing tenants pay a percentage of their income, usually approximately 30%, in rent. Eligibility is further based on individuals/families annual gross income and U.S. Citizenship or eligible non-citizens.

Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program: this program permits low- to moderate-income individuals, families, seniors, and individuals with disabilities to choose private rental housing and receive rental assistance with payments. Individuals pay approximately 30-40% of their adjusted income in rent, the Housing Authority pays the remainder directly to the landlord on behalf of the tenant.

Justice Bridge Housing Program: serves non-violent offenders from Snyder County who have a substance abuse disorder and are at high risk of recidivism. Participants receive monthly rental subsidies for up to 12 months or until they transition to the Housing Choice Voucher Program or, if financially able, obtain market-rate housing. Participants also receive support services if they are on parole or probation.

Stability Voucher Program: these vouchers help families who are experiencing homelessness or at-risk of homelessness; fleeing or attempting to flee domestic violence; dating violence, sexual assault, stalking, or human trafficking; and veterans and families that may include a veteran family member. Contact PA 211 for referral into this program.
