Ardella’s House – Community & Reentry Programs

This is a service and advocacy organization that helps justice-impacted individuals, primarily women, realize new possibilities for themselves and their families.

Mentoring Program: connects justice-impacted women and girls with compassionate experienced mentors who walk beside them through the challenges of reentry and personal transformation. They provide: one-on-one mentorship with trained, trauma-informed women who offer guidance and emotional support; goal setting and accountability to help mentees build structure, confidence, and forward momentum; group mentoring circles that foster sisterhood, shared learning, and community healing; skill-building and resource navigation to assist with employment, education, family reunification, and more; and opportunities for former participants to become mentors.

Life Interrupted Program: this is a 12-week personal development and reentry planning program that happens behind the wall, designed specifically for women preparing to return home from prison or jail. They provide: structured weekly sessions led by mentors with lived experience who understand the journey firsthand; personalized reentry planning to support each woman in securing housing, employment, and vital documents; trauma-informed healing circles where women can speak truth, release pain, and build resilience; financial literacy & job readiness training that prepares women to thrive; and peer support and empowerment.

ReACTION Program: this is a bold, trauma-informed intervention program for adjudicated and at-risk girls ages 13-18. Through weekly sessions, mentorship, and community connection, this program helps girls process their experiences, build emotional resilience, and chart a new course rooted in purpose, power, and self-love. They provide: weekly group sessions that center emotional wellness, personal development, and critical life skills; one-on-one mentoring with caring adult women who model strength, accountability, and compassion; creative expression and healing activities including journaling, art, mindfulness, and restorative circles; civic engagement opportunities that encourage youth voice and community leadership; and family engagement to rebuild trust, communication, and support systems at home.

Health/Sexuality Program: these classes offer justice-impacted women and girls, of all ages, with access to basic health education, reproductive care, and autonomy. They provide: comprehensive reproductive health education covering menstruation, contraception, STIs/HIV prevention, and maternal health; sexual wellness and empowerment through honest discussions on consent, pleasure, boundaries, and body image; trauma-informed healing circles that address shame, past abuse, and promote body positivity and self-respect; community health referrals and resources for follow-up care, screenings, and ongoing support; and culturally relevant, peer-led instruction.

Parenting Program: this program is for mothers who have been separated from their children due to incarceration or life experiences, and who are ready to parent with confidence, care, and accountability. This program offers: weekly parenting workshops using evidence-based curricular tailored for justice-impacted women; trauma-informed approaches to understanding child behavior, attachment, and healing generational wounds; reunification support for women working toward regaining custody or rebuilding relationships with their children; practical parenting skills including communication, conflict resolution, positive discipline, and co-parenting strategies; and peer support circles.

Family Reunification Program: supports justice-impacted women as they work to rebuild trust, reconnect with their children, and re-establish strong, healthy family relationships. They provide: reunification counseling to process trauma, rebuild trust, and support healthy communication between mothers and children; visitation support and family mediation to safely reintroduce and strengthen connections; co-parenting and custody navigation with referrals to legal aid and court advocacy; parenting classes and family education to equip women with the skills and confidence they need; and wraparound services including housing, employment support, and mental health care to stabilize the whole family.

Domestic Violence Education and Support Program: this program is for justice-impacted women and girls who have experienced domestic violence – whether before, during, or after incarceration — and are seeking education, healing, and support in a judgement-free environment. They offer weekly support groups; educational workshops on recognizing red flags, setting boundaries, understanding the dynamics of abuse, and building healthy relationships; safety planning and crisis intervention for those currently experiencing violence; one-on-one support from trained advocates; and referrals to legal aid, housing resources, therapy, and emergency services as needed.

Haddington Participatory Defense Hub: this program serves individuals in West Philadelphia and beyond who are facing criminal charges, as well as their families, and loved ones, and advocates. At the Hub, they: support families and individuals facing charges, helping them understand the legal process, advocate for themselves and their loved ones, and prepare powerful mitigation materials; build collective power by organizing families to demand justice, accountability, and dignity in local courts and communities; and provide reentry support and referrals for community members navigating the aftermath of a legal case, including housing, employment, and mental health resources.
